“MANIPUR DIKSHA” a State IT Platform for teachers is being developed by Directorate of SCERT, Manipur under the guidance and support from MHRD, Government Of India, NCTE and Team DIKSHA, New-Delhi. It is a comprehensive repository for all aspects related to the data, capacities and professional development for school teachers, teacher-educators and future teachers in the state.
The department of education, Government of Manipur believes its teachers are the torches bearers in shaping and improving the student learning outcomes in the state.
- To enhance knowledge sharing for better Teaching Learning Materials.
- To encourage teachers for creation and curation of e-contents.
- To create a familiarity and comfortability for teachers across the state with use of technology, network and sharing learning experiences.
DIKSHA serves as a National digital infrastructure for teachers. Minister Radheshyam, while addressing the gathering, appealed to the teachers and concerned persons to give feedback on the weaknesses and strength of DIKSHA after using and getting well acquainted with the portal. It is important for the teachers as well as the concerned people to reap benefits of such new initiatives introduced by the Government in the education sector like DIKSHA portal, EDUSAT so as to improve the teaching learning process, he said.
DIKSHA is a National digital platform which will hugely benefit the teachers as it offers resources/materials for teaching, learning and professional development. Teachers across the Nation will be equipped with advanced digital technology which will provide them an open modular and scalable technology that the State Governments and other organization can seamlessly integrate with their respective teacher-centric initiatives. Under this initiative, school textbooks will be ‘energized’ with a QR code at the beginning of each chapter, the Minister said adding that the QR codes will be linked to a digital content which can be accessed by scanning the DIKSHA Android App available on Google Play Store, he added.
He maintained that this unique initiative upgrades the physical world of textbooks to the digital world of enhanced learning adding that Manipur has energized 3rd, 4th and 5th class EVS textbooks for this academic year. The programme will help teachers to create training content, profile, in-class resources, assessment aids, news and announcement and connect with teacher community, Radheshyam noted. Lauding the SCERT and each individual involved in the launching and implementation of DIKSHA, he said that it is a historic moment for the State for being the first to implement such scheme in the Northeast.
The event was organized by the Directorate of State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in collaboration with National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and Team DIKSHA, New Delhi held at Multipurpose Hall, SCERT, Lamphel.
